Ahh, February...the month of Love! Here at Sheridan Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, the stage was set in style with a visit from the King of Rock and Roll. All decked out in a silky white and baby blue jumpsuit bedazzled with rhinestones, a thick gold chain belt, and smoky sunglasses, Elvis Tribute Artist Jeff Mew made a convincing Elvis Presley.
Giddy elders took their seats in a common area-turned concert hall. And Elvis took the mic. As he belted out favorites with great stage appeal, the crowd sang along to Teddy Bear, Hound Dog, Don't Be Cruel, Jailhouse Rock, and so many songs they know by heart.
When the show was over, Elvis treated his adoring fans to their very own Meet & Greet! Lots of hugs and laughs were shared, and one sweet senior was surprised with a cute little teddy bear.
A grandpa from Killeen, Texas, Mew resides in Benbrook, a suburb of Ft. Worth. After a career in durable medical goods and home health, he decided to pursue a passion that was sparked when, as a child, Presley's gospel songs made a lasting impression. Today, when he's not spending quality time with family, he's on the road. You'll find him mostly in Texas and the surrounding states, thrilling fans of all ages with his alter ego.
A fantastic therapeutic tool, music has a way of evoking joy in its audience. And when the music is familiar, it can usher in memories from days gone by. Nursing staff and elders were honored to be a stop on Elvis' latest tour, and can't wait for his next visit to central Arkansas!
